Google has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with Linea Energy for 500 megawatts of solar power from the Duffy Solar Project in Matagorda County, Texas, according to announcements from Linea Energy and ESG Today.
The agreement will support Google’s data center operations in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas market, one of the largest electricity markets in the United States. The Duffy Solar Project is planned on a 3,526-acre site and is scheduled to begin construction in the third quarter of 2026.
The solar project is also co-located with Linea’s 235 MWac Duffy battery energy storage system, which is currently under construction. The combination of solar generation and battery storage is expected to add clean power resources to the Texas grid while supporting growing electricity demand from digital infrastructure.
Linea Energy said the agreement reflects its role as a renewable energy developer and independent power producer serving large corporate energy buyers. Google said the collaboration is intended to bring new low-cost power to the grid and help maintain energy affordability in Texas.
The deal adds to Google’s broader clean energy procurement strategy as the company works toward its goal of operating on carbon-free energy around the clock by 2030.
